Look at one of your learning courses (or a learning initiative you need to implement) and consider how you can redesign and extend the learning experience using a campaign of spaced events. Explain how you will use at least 2 of the other factors discussed (microlearning, story-based learning or adaptive learning) in this campaign.
My first e-Learning attempt was building a course which educates users on the different types of Learning: Formal, Social and Experiential. I built this through PowerPoint and Articulate, where the user clicks through each of the three different learning types to learn more about them. They need to progess in the specific order before being allowed to access the next type of learning. Once all three types of learning are complete, they are taken to a Case Study and test their knowledge. Once complete, they are given a badge.
I would enhance the course by:
In the course we use a case study of William Kamkwamba, known as the boy who harnessed the wind. However, we only use it at the end of the course. I would redesign it by making him the main focus throughout the course so it all ties in together. I think using his story could also be used through game-based learning to better visualise William's life story so that it is more relevant.
At the end of the course, when the user completes the course, there is only a simple badge of a windmill and assignment of 10 points. To better enhance the course, I would use gamification to make it look like they need to collect three windmill blades: formal, social and experiential and at the end of the course, they build a windmill using the pieces collected to make it feel more rewarding.
